Visa Guidelines and Process for Indian Nationals
V/Airport transit
For foreigners of nationalities established by Resolution 5488 of 2022 who aspire to carry out direct transit in any of the airports in the national territory and with destination to a third State . The authorized stay at the airport will be a maximum of twenty-four (24) hours, strictly restricted to sterile or direct transit areas in a single airport with international operations. The arrival and stay in the international transit areas of airports with international operations are not considered as an entry into the national territory, in immigration terms. The foregoing, without prejudice to the surveillance and control tasks that the Special Administrative Unit of Migration Colombia exercises over said airport areas.
Specific requirements: Air ticket to and from Colombia to a third country; proof of eligibility for the final destination, primarily a visa, for the third country if required.
Validity : up to thirty (30) days for multiple transits.
This visa does not allow applications as a beneficiary.
V/Tourism
Exclusively for leisure, tourism or cultural interest activities.
Specific requirements:
Submit written communication from the applicant in which the full identification of the applicant is reported and the activity that the foreigner intends to carry out in the national territory is explained (details, participants, duration, schedule, location, among other aspects);
If you are a guest, you must provide a written request from the Colombian host or a foreign citizen, only if they are the primary holder of a Permanent Resident (R) visa. This request must be signed freehand and contain a fingerprint of your right or left index finger, or right or left thumb. This request clearly states your contact telephone number, physical address, and email address; the type of relationship or connection you have with the foreigner; and your financial responsibility for the expenses inherent to the foreigner's travel and stay in the country. In this request, the sponsor must also record the information of other foreign citizens they have sponsored; and commit to the National Government to guarantee the foreigner's return to their country of origin or to inform them if the foreigner remains illegally in the country.
Prove financial solvency of the applicant and/or the natural person who makes the invitation through bank statements corresponding to the six (6) months prior to the request, which demonstrate monthly income of no less than ten (10) current legal monthly minimum wages (SMLMV).
Health insurance policy with comprehensive coverage in the country in the event of accident, illness, maternity, disability, hospitalization, death, or repatriation, for the duration of your planned stay in the country.
Submit ticket reservations for entry and exit from the country.
Validity : Up to one (1) year. The authorized stay in the national territory will be 90 days, extendable for another 90 calendar days, continuous or discontinuous. The stay will not be extendable upon completing 180 days, continuous or discontinuous within every three hundred sixty-five (365) calendar days, counted from the issuance of the visa.
Beneficiaries : This visa does not allow applications as a beneficiary.
Restrictions: The V Tourist visa does not allow work in Colombian territory.
Upon entering the country, the immigration control authority will require the foreigner to prove that he or she is in possession of the corresponding exit ticket .
Visa V Business
For business management, market research, direct investment plans or procedures, and the establishment of a commercial company, negotiation, contract execution, or commercial representation . It is intended for foreigners of nationalities not exempt from the short-stay visa requirement established by Resolution 5488 of 2022 , or those who, while exempt from a short-stay visa, require a longer stay in the country.
Specific requirements:
If the application is submitted on a personal basis and under personal responsibility, the foreigner must meet the following requirements:
Submit a written communication from the applicant stating the applicant's full identification and explaining the activity the foreigner intends to carry out in the national territory (details, participants, duration, schedule, location, among other aspects).

If the application is made with the support of a legal entity, it must be requested directly by the legal entity responsible for the applicant in Colombia, after meeting the following requirements:
Submit a reasoned communication signed directly by the legal representative of the legal entity acting on its behalf, which clearly contains the following information:
Full identification of the legal entity, including the National Tax Identification Number (TIN) if incorporated in Colombia, and contact information.
Complete identification of the foreigner.
A letter from the legal representative of the legal entity supporting the application, specifying the activity the foreigner intends to carry out in Colombia, its duration, the type of relationship or ties between the legal entity and the foreigner, and indicating who assumes financial responsibility for the expenses inherent to the foreigner's travel and stay in Colombia. This communication must also include the information of other foreign citizens supported by the company or legal entity. The legal entity must also commit to the National Government to guarantee the foreigner's return to their country of origin or to inform them if the foreigner remains illegally in Colombia.
Explanation of the relationship or type of ties with the foreigner for whom the visa is being requested and any special qualifications or expertise that the foreigner has, if any.
Declaration of financial responsibility for expenses inherent to the foreigner's travel and stay in Colombia, in which the legal entity also undertakes to inform the Visa and Immigration Authority immediately of any change in the conditions under which the visa was granted, to guarantee the foreigner's return to their country of origin, and to report if the foreigner remains illegally in Colombia. This declaration must be signed freehand and with a fingerprint of the right or left index finger, or right or left thumb; or before the competent foreign authority, in which case it must be apostilled or legalized, as appropriate.
When the legal entity supporting the request is private and incorporated in the
foreigner, a certificate of existence, incorporation or constitution and legal representation or a document that acts as such must be provided, with the formalities provided for the presentation of foreign documents stated in this Resolution.
Provide the financial solvency of the legal entity through bank statements from the three (3) months prior to the application. In the case of a public entity, this requirement does not need to be met.
In any case, the applicant must demonstrate through bank statements that he or she has a minimum income equivalent to three (3) Current Legal Monthly Minimum Wages (SMLMV).
Validity : Up to two (2) years. The stay in the national territory will be a maximum of 180 calendar days, continuous or discontinuous, non-extendable every three hundred sixty-five (365) calendar days from the issuance of the visa.
Beneficiaries : This visa does not allow applications as a beneficiary.
Restriction: The V Business visa does not allow you to work in Colombia or join the country's Social Security System.
Student Visa V
To pursue in-person, virtual, or distance learning studies in arts or crafts, preschool, primary, secondary, middle, work-based and human development education, and higher education; or to carry out student internships and academic exchanges through agreements between higher education institutions . Passport holders from visa-exempt countries or territories, as determined by Resolution 5488 of 2022 , will be exempt from applying for this type of visa provided their stay in Colombia does not exceed 180 calendar days.

When the legal entity supporting the application is private and established abroad, a certificate of existence, incorporation or constitution, and legal representation, or a document serving as such, must be provided, with the formality of an apostille or legalization, depending on the issuing or certifying authority, and an official translation into Spanish when not available in that language.
Provide the financial solvency of the legal entity through bank statements from the three (3) months prior to the application. In the case of a public entity, this requirement does not need to be met.
In any case, the applicant must demonstrate through bank statements that he or she has a minimum income equivalent to three (3) Current Legal Monthly Minimum Wages (SMLMV).
Certificate of admission or enrollment in the educational institution indicating the grade or program for which you are admitted or enrolled and its duration.
In the case of student internships, whether paid or unpaid, communication from the educational institution that supports it and indicating the duration of the activity.
Health insurance policy with comprehensive coverage in the country in the event of accident, illness, maternity, disability, hospitalization, death, or repatriation, for the duration of your planned stay in the country.
For second and subsequent visas, certification from the entity of compliance with attendance and completion of the course, studies, or internship for which the visa was issued.
Validity : Up to two (2) years. Except for virtual or distance learning, absence from the country for more than ninety (90) calendar days will result in the automatic termination of the visa.
Work Permit: This visa allows postgraduate university students to work up to twenty (20) hours per week, subject to a report by the employer to the Special Administrative Unit for Migration Colombia and the Ministry of Labor in the systems or platforms provided for this purpose.
Beneficiaries : This visa does not allow applications for beneficiaries, except in the case of postgraduate students.
Foreign students who complete undergraduate studies with honors at a university in Colombia will have the option of applying for a visa to complete an internship in their field of study without having to leave the country, provided they maintain immigration status and are sponsored by the educational institution. The work permit granted under this category will be restricted to that activity.
Both the foreigner and the employer or contractor must comply with the labor regulations of the Colombian State, the specific rules for the practice of each profession or trade, and the reporting and registration obligations established in Decree 1067 of 2015, or any regulation that replaces it.
Those who earn undergraduate degrees in areas where there is a human capital shortage in Colombia, and all those who earn doctoral and postdoctoral degrees from Colombian universities, will be able to apply for a work visa to work in their field.
V Visa Medical Treatment
To attend medical or dental consultations, procedures, or treatments as a patient or as a companion. This visa will be granted for specific treatments, prioritizing those of a specific duration, which are part of the exportable range of medical services for foreigners.
Specific requirements:
Submit a written communication from the applicant stating the applicant's full identification and explaining the activity the foreigner intends to carry out in the national territory (details, participants, duration, schedule, location, among other aspects).
If you are a guest, you must provide a written request from the Colombian host or a foreign citizen, only if they are the primary holder of a Permanent Resident (R) visa. Letter from the health care provider stating the type of treatment and estimated duration of the recovery phase.
Letter from the foreigner stating that the costs of his treatment and stay in Colombia will be covered by himself or by the foreign entity that supports him and in no case will he generate services charged to the Colombian health system;
Both the patient and their companion must have a health insurance policy with comprehensive coverage in the country in the event of accident, illness, maternity, disability, hospitalization, death, or repatriation, for the duration of their planned stay in the country.
Validity: Up to one (1) year and cannot be extended within the national territory. The stay in Colombian territory may not exceed one hundred and eighty (180) continuous or discontinuous calendar days.
Beneficiaries : This visa does not allow applications as a beneficiary.
Restrictions: Does not allow work in Colombian territory, does not allow applying for M or R visas.
V Visa Administrative and/or judicial procedures
To carry out administrative or judicial procedures before entities or authorities in Colombia .
Specific requirements:
Submit a written communication from the applicant stating the applicant's full identification and explaining the activity the foreigner intends to carry out in the national territory (details, participants, duration, schedule, location, among other aspects).
If you are a guest, you must provide a written request from the Colombian host or a foreign citizen, only if they are the primary holder of a Permanent Resident (R) visa. Beneficiaries : This visa does not allow applications as a beneficiary.
Restrictions : Except in cases where it is granted to foreigners under criminal subrogation or alternative penalty mechanisms, the V visa granted in this capacity does not allow work in Colombian territory.
